Narceus Americanus 'North American Millipede'

from $12.00

Also known as the ‘Giant Pink Foot Millipede’, Narceus Americanus is the largest species of millipede native to North America and Canada. This species is easy to care for and has a moderate reproduction rate with breeding season falling in early spring through late summer. For housing, it is best to provide a tank that is at minimum as wide as the millipede's body length and twice as long. As most millipedes are fossorial (they spend a large portion of their time underground in burrows) we recommend providing a good deal of substrate for them to explore. Additionally, as millipedes primarily feed on their substrate, we recommend mixing plenty of rotting wood and leaf litter into their substrate. You will also need to provide them with supplementary food such as fruit, leafy greens, and sources of protein and calcium. For this, we recommend products such as Repashy Bug Burger which provides adequate hydration and nutrients. Just like with isopods, if you notice the food has begun to mold, be sure to remove it and clean the food dish. Adult length:~10 cm, Humidity preferences: 60-80%, Temperature preferences: 65-78 degrees, Soil depth: ~6 in.
