Porcellio Spinicornis 'Brickwork'
Another European species, Porcellio Spinicornis, also known as the ‘Brickwork’ isopod due to the checkered pattern on their carapace, is unique in the fact that it is considered a synanthropic species- meaning they are typically found in close proximity to centers of human activity as they benefit from certain aspects of said surroundings. In the case of Spinicornis, they are particularly fond of man made stone products such as concrete (we frequently find them around gravel beds and cinder blocks). Due to this, we highly recommend providing a small chunk of concrete brick or limestone in their enclosure. In terms of difficulty, we rank them at a moderate difficulty level due to the fact that maintaining proper tank parameters can be more challenging, and they are slow breeders in comparison to the rest of the Porcellio species we offer. Adult length:~1.5 cm, Humidity preferences: 50-70%, Temperature preferences: 65-75 degrees, Soil depth: ~3in.
